I’ve reseen this movie again after a couple of years wait. I like the idea of a musical if it is made well, if the songs are songs you can hum to while keeping the smile real. Well I think this flick is such a movie. I like the title and I like all that jazz and I like the theme alot. Female murders in Chicago in the 1920’s. The plot is nicely played through a con while everthing that happens to Roxy is watched through her eyes – and all she sees is potential broadway dancers and sinatra singers everywhere…

Things are said like things are in this movie. The singing and dancing seems very normal but appear just as spontanas as it does in cartoons. In fact this movie is kind of cartoonish. There’s used a lot of symbolic hidden meanings within all the singing and daning, but you can easily watch without getting those symbolic treasures.

Summary

Murderesses Velma Kelly (a chanteuse and tease who killed her husband and sister after finding them in bed together) and Roxie Hart (who killed her boyfriend when she discovered he wasn’t going to make her a star) find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s Chicago
